From Rumble in the Jungle to Rumble in the Kongo

 It has been 50 years since the most entertaining boxing fight took place in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that opposed Mohamed Ali versus George Foreman. This 1974 event is one out of many events that has taken place in the DR Congo and has impacted the livelihood of the people of the DR Congo, the lovers of Africa and the African Diaspora. The massive quality reserve of the critical and strategic minerals from the DR Congo carries the largest impact on the continuously evolving technology including but not limited to the electronics industry, artificial intelligence, and electric vehicles.

Though DRC resources have generated layers of negative impact on the socio-economic and political arena within the country and on its people, today we are looking to not only change this narrative but also to make the DRC a preferred destination. 

Making the DRC the destination will not only uncover the true meaning of its immense rainforest, its contribution to the climate change equilibrium across the globe, its unique flora, its amazing fauna, its largest high-flow river (Congo River) and many more of its above-ground natural resources but also bring constructive socio-economic and socio-cultural growth.

The lovers of Africa and the African diasporas must support this movement called “Rumble in the Kongo” because without the Kongo Forest and the Kongo River which are respectively both the second most dense in the world and the second longest river in Africa with a maximum flow rate of 80,832 m3/s. 

DR "Kongo" is a rich, beautiful, vibrant, energetic and incredibly blessed country with every natural resource the world could ever need. It is precisely because of these riches that DR Congo has been victimized by the West and now the East for far too long.

As children of Africa, we must wake up from our slumber of many centuries and reclaim the driver’s seat of DR Congo’s development. The building of the DR Congo’s socio-economic and socio-cultural assets that we want is our responsibility and ours alone. Let us come together in the most constructive and meaningful purpose. We owe it to our children, grandchildren and generations to come.
